In the main entrance, it has a rock with the real weapons and the date of its construction: 1649.
This is a small maritime fort, of mannerist style, destined to strengthen the defence of the bar of the river Tagus, being coadjutant the proportionate defence for the Fort of the Julião da Barra. It presents plant in the organic irregular pentagonal format (adapted to the land), in different quotas.
