Carcavelos Beach is the most popular beach in Lisbon and is usually the most packed with people, especially in the summer. It has more than 1 Km of sand lining the coast, which makes it perfect for sun bathing and beach activities. Young Lisbonites often go here to play beach football. Carcavelos is also a favorite among surfers, and you can find numbers of them here throughout the year. There are plenty of bars too so you can expect the night life to be quite colourful.
Getting to Carcavelos is easy enough. Most of the beaches are located along the line of the Lisbon-Cascais train. The Carcavelos Beach is about 600 meters south of the Carcavelos station.
Next to the imposing fortress of St. Julian of Barra, is Carcavelos Beach, a big, sandy beach where a wide variety of sports activities take place. There are volleyball and beach football. This is one of the most popular beaches for surfers who frequent it all year round. Popular Sports: Surf, Bodyboard, Windsurf, Kite.
The access can be made by foot, by car or by train.
