Santo António da Barra Fort

The Santo António da Barra Fort, also known as Velho Fort, is a coastal defense military fortitude built by order of Filipe the 1st and was extended after, by order of King joão the 4th in 1643. The Fort has a star-shape plant, that was often use in the Renaissance military architecture.
The Fort was for many years the Summer house of António de Oliveira de Salazar, founder and leader of the Estado Novo (New State), the authoritarian right-wing regime that presided over Portugal from 1933 to 1974.
This Fort has amazing landscapes over the ocean and the rocky cliffs by the sea.
